The High Way to Die

Produced by Jack McGaw and co-produced by The National Research Council, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation of Communications, and Toronto/Ontario Provincial Police, they demonstrate dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs with participating young drivers alongside field experts and researchers to aid in their experiments.

LSD-25

1967

The dangers of LSD are driven home to teenagers in this classroom training film, which is "narrated" by an LSD tab. The "tab" tells kids that he is "a depth charge in the mind!" and various teenagers are shwn babbling about their LSD experiences. "Experts" are presented who warn that LSD makes kids "paint themselves green" and has various other horrible side effects, the most serious of which is that it gives users a police record, and that there is "no known way of getting your fingerprints out of a police file once they're in there."

Cults: Saying No Under Pressure

Describes how to resist the deception and pressure used to recruit members into cults and keep them there. It also provides advice on how to resist these tactics. The video is designed for young people, parents, educators, counselors, clergy, law enforcement officials, and others.

Shoplifting is Stealing

1975

This educational film "Shoplifting is Stealing" was produced by Charles Cahill and Associates in 1975. It discusses the issue of shoplifting and the various measures taken by retail stores to combat it. It highlights the significant financial losses due to shoplifting, which amount to over $3.5 billion annually in the U.S. Stores often mark up prices to cover these losses, which can be particularly challenging for small businesses. The film explains that many shoplifters are teenagers who steal for emotional reasons, peer pressure, or thrills rather than necessity. It emphasizes that shoplifting is a serious crime with legal consequences, including a police record. Various security measures are described, such as trained security staff, surveillance cameras, electronic tags, and packaging techniques that make it harder for shoplifters to steal items. The film also follows a scenario where security tracks and apprehends suspected shoplifters using surveillance and communication.
